Sorry if this has already been stated, but I couldn't find it anywhere and I'd like to get input from at least a few people. Does iOS 6 work well on the iPhone 4? I haven't installed it yet in case of any performance or battery issues (I learned my lesson after iOS 4 killed my 2nd gen iPod Touch's battery life).

Works perfectly on mine. I was worried about potential performance or battery issues but it works perfectly. Nothing to complain about.

It runs well on my iPhone 4, but had I known about the tacky design changes like the status bar, Music App colour scheme and App Store, as well as how bad the Maps App is than I never would have upgraded.

Agreed. There seems to be very little benefit to iPhone 4 users. I would be ok with maps if it included turn by turn, but its pretty worthless to me since they dropped transit. Fortunately, I have a 5 on the way.

I am not seeing any issues on my 4, even the battery life has not changed. I do wonder how the new maps app is supposed to work on the 4. I know there is no turn by turn voice, but i was under the impression that you could still use the navigation aspect of it (there would just not be any spoken directions).

I put in my route and the on screen prompts show up but they are static, they do not follow with me as i progress towards my destination.

I would rather not start a new thread and I have searched for an answer but I have had no luck, so does the new map program work at all on the 4

The only thing I've really noticed since updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 is when I send an e-mail it sends it quicker than you can even blink - whereas before it used to take half a minute maybe more. Apart from that no better or worse than the last iOS.

Hth

Daniel.

On my iPhone 4 which was purchased on release, I've noticed a big increase in terms of performance. Battery life for me which runs about the same a day or so of average use. I'm actually impressed with iOS 6. Although I have a 5 now the 4 will be going to my pops.

Battery life... Same
Maps.... Suck
App Store.... Sucks
Safari... runs well
Mail.. flies!
iMessage..... fine
Photo's and the album layout..... different, but ok
Ignore or send a text reply to incoming phone calls.... Cool.

I keep the front "screen" empty of icons. Before when I did a reboot, I lost my "clean screen." Not now. iOS 6 seems to remember your screen settings.

Privacy settings, and all the changes in settings..... nice.

Bottom line, iPhone 4, go ahead and upgrade the iOS
