this has been discussed in a few threads (here and here and on Apple support forums) but i want to see how widespread it is.
the "fix" is to do a soft reset (reboot) on your iPhone, but for many users, the problem just comes back in the next day or so. that is the case with me. if it is just a software problem, one would think it would be very widespread since we are all running the same iOS6 on our iPhone 5.

so, please take a photo with the flash on and see if it is firing properly. if it isn't, you will see a bright pre-flash before the shutter opens and the photo will be very dark.

example:
WITH flash

WITHOUT flash

no problem here. I would think if it occurs on some phones and not on other that it is not software related.

I have this problem too. 1st iPhone DOA, this one has flash issues, freezes and a black blob sometimes next to the clock. Oh well GB again tomorrow.

I had the same issue too turning the phone off And on solved it yesterday and my mates has the same issue.

Had it happen on day 1 (last Friday) hasn't reoccurred since then after a reboot.

I took a photo last night and had this problem, restarted the phone and ok. Have just taken another photo now and same problem :-(

Had flash issues at a concert tonight, wish I would have read that a reboot fixed it. Made my iPhone 5 look like junk, just tested the reboot now that I am home and it worked correctly. Will try again in tomorrow and in the future.

Well, while taking indoor pictures, I noticed that my camera's flash and shutter are out of sync. This produces very dark pictures. The flash activates and finishes its sequence prior to the shutter. This occurs whether the flash is ON or in Auto mode.

This just happened today. I will deal with it for a bit. In the meantime, I have made an appointment with the Apple store to find a remedy. No big matter for myself. Nonetheless, I would like the camera to function properly.

I was having this issue too. IOS 6.0.1 seems to have fixed it.

After updating the IOS to 6.0.1. today, the sync issue seems to have been fixed. :D
