Is my iPhone 5 locked to AT&T?

I just got my 32GB iPhone and in settings under carrier it says AT&T 13.0. I live in the UAE, not the US. I've ordered the phone from one of the top online retail stores in the country. All their Apple iDevices are unlocked. I even made sure to ask whether the iPhone 5 is unlocked before placing an order even though I truly know that it is. I've yet to receive my nano-sim card, so I can't make sure that it's really unlocked.

Backup your iPhone and then restore it in iTunes. If it's factory unlocked you will get a screen verifying that at the end of the restore process.

There was an AT&T nano-sim card inside. I took it out, but it still says AT&T 13.0. I'll try what you suggested though.
