Just noticed this today as I was trying to figure out why my hsdpa+ speeds were so terrible on att, when they normally are pretty decent . I do not live in an LTE city so I turned off the feature when I got my iphone 5 after reading that it might help with battery life. I turned the feature on today and ran several tests and found that my hsdpa speeds were significantly faster, attached are my speed tests showing the difference with the option on (the higher speeds) and with it off (the lower speeds). Anyone else notice this with their service? And does having the option off when not in an LTE area actually save battery?

Can't speak to the speed issue, but I live in a non LTE area too. I have never turned it off, and my battery life is excellent.
