I just got the iPhone 5 and this is my first smart phone, and I'm trying to figure out the method behind the madness when it comes to storing and saving pictures on the iPhone.

When I save photos from the web or emails (for wallpaper or whatnot) they get saved to my camera roll, along with all the other photos that I take with the iPhone camera. Then when I sync my iPhone photos in iPhoto on my Mac it also syncs all of the saved images that I don't need to have saved in iPhoto.

Is there a way to save pictures somewhere other than the camera roll, and keep them separate from my own Photos that I've taken?

Create an album/event in iPhoto and add custom photos there ... in iTunes sync photos option with iPhoto and done !
