This sounds like a question for my lady friend, but here's what she's got (on her 4S):

Incase Metallic Snap - http://goincase.com/products/detail/metallic-snap-case-cl59906

Caudabe Concentric - http://www.caudabe.com/collections/iphone-accessories/products/iphone44s-concentric-pearlwhite

Caudabe Shell - http://www.caudabe.com/collections/iphone-accessories/products/iphone44s-shell-rubyred

Incipio Feather - https://www.incipio.com/cases/iphon...-4-4s-feather-ultralight-hard-shell-case.html

I'm just waiting until she gets the i5 soon......there goes another $100-200 in cases.

I loved my iFrogz Lean Original case. Two piece polycarb construction, several colors, nice velvety feel, sweet! They also have a one piece Lean version. I'm gonna get one for my i5 soon.

Incase Slider.

I had one for my iPhone 4, and have one now for my 5. It's a tight-fitting case, handles impacts well (had a few drops with the 4 with no issues) and holds up well to damage over time.

It's $35, more than some people are willing to spend for a case, but... What's $35 to protect a $500+ phone? :)

This is mine. Elago. It is glossy so it is a little slippery, but it is so thin it adds almost no bulk to the phone. Looks great too. It came with a screen protector as well.

I don't recommend the candyshell. I have had two before (three if I include my sister's candyshell). After a few month of use all three break at the ridge right above the connector. The rubber part was fine, but the plastic was broken. Their customer support wasn't all that useful, never received the so call warranty replacement. I stopped buying their product.

If you've a 4S, the answer is simple - Apple bumpers. It lifts up your iPhone a bit by the rubber edges so the back of your phone is not touching your desk when you place it down. It also protects the sides and corners of your phone -- the most probable locations to be hit when you drop it.

I have the red Caudabe Shell. Just gorgeous in person. And really thin.

Yeah, but I find the bumpers look tacky, especially since the plastic is sort of glossy. Scuffs easily. And if you get anything other than black, be prepared for massive discoloration of the rubber banding.

I've always been a fan of Incipio's Feather Cases's. I've had one on every iPhone I've ever had, including my current iPhone 5. They are $24.99+shipping on Incipio's website or $15ish on Amazon and if you have Amazon Prime its free shipping.
