Can i run it and scoop one up for a 100$ discount? If not, i dont see why anyone in the right mind would be buying one before ipad 4 launch.

Or are the stores just pulling them all from shelves right now?

Pulling them. iPad2 is @ $399. Kind of strange, I'm not sure what Apple is going to do with them O_O.

Maybe reuse the parts for something else? Who knows, I bet they had it figured out though, so we shall see.

Unlikely. Most of the parts in the iPad 3 Retina were engineered to fit that form factor only. Plus it's very hard to take it apart without messing up the screen.

Me thinks they are going to give them away or sell them at huge discount to employees.

Won't they just sell them on the refurb store?

Sell new things at refurb? Will Apple do that?

I suspect that Apple will keep most of these handy as replacement for iPad 3's that may have issues or break.

If not, it begs the question. I have insurance on my iPad 3...if it breaks, would they replace it with the 4?

That's what I think they might be doing. This iPad deal has been posted on Slickdeals for over a day now. The post has been front page for a while and has over 117,000 views. Despite this though the iPad 3rd gen "refurbs" are still in stock. The refurbs went on sale soon after the media event yesterday and includes every single version (black and white, cellular and WIFI) of the 3rd gen iPad. I think all versions are still in stock and I can't recall seeing refurbs at Apple's store stay in stock for so long.

Here. As stated earlier, I question if these are even refurbs. They've been selling these "refurbs" at this price for over a day now and are still in stock. Either they have a boat load of refurb units or they're trying to clear stock.

Oh, cool, I had no idea you could see their stock supply (haven't ordered anything from Apple's site). That's very interesting. Considering that the post about this deal has been on Slickdeals for over a day now with over 118,000 views...they must of had several thousands of these.

iPad 3 with 64GB for $549 refurb. Is there seriously any reason NOT to buy this? The 64GB iPad 4 will cost $700. The only major difference is the A6X processor and lightning cable.

They are being sold as refubs in the UK Apple store at approx 20% discount.

That is the amount by which the ipad 3 has effectively devalued by... if you want a rough figure. Of course normal refurbs used to be around 7-10% off so best case this is a 10% cut... but of course many of the refurbs will be brand new...

The sad thing is all these $380 refurbs are probably artificially deflating the resale values of the iPad 3 Retina.

There's no reason to buy an iPad 2 while it exists.

I thought I read someone reporting some Apple store are selling the remaining stock of iPad 3 at $449. I doubt many people would take the iPad 3 over 4 for $50 difference.

The problem is, with iPad 2 at $399, they can't sell iPad 3 below $449. So, Apple may as well discontinue iPad 3.

You are now lucky if you can sell an 16GB iPad 3 for $350.
For iPad 2, the 3G model is priced at $529, but you'll have a hard time selling it even at $325.
