Ok so I sold my iPad 3 for $650. I only paid $600 for it second hand. So I pre-ordered the iPad 4 64gb for $699. Good deal I think.

Now....how do I erase everything to where nothing will remain? Apple ID, ICloud, pics etc?
What's the best way to do this?

So nothing will remain? iCloud etc? Seems like I heard some people's Apple ID etc lingering around. Am I wrong?

Also will it erase my iCloud backup? Which I don't want it to do

That will put the iPad back to it's factory settings and should not erase your iCloud back up because that is what you'll use to restore your stuff to the new one.

Sounds good. That's what I'll do then. As an extra precaution I suppose I'll sign out of my Apple ID

Another good precaution is to go to Apple's My Support Profile and delete your iPad 3 from the list if it is there. This disconnects from any remote chance of receiving iMessages after being totally erased.

How did you sell an iPad 3 for $650? Is it 64GB LTE?

Refurbs are going for much cheaper and have a 1 year warranty from date of purchase.
