Im curious, why are so many people complaining about the fact that ipad minis and iphone 5s scratch too easily when the bigger ipad and past iphones also scratch?

Because they scratch *easier* than past iPads and iPhones. Well, except for the iPhone 2G. That thing scratched liked crazy.

Yes, all devices can scratch. It just seems the black anodized backs scratch easier. For the record, my black iPad mini and iPhone 5 have not had their backs scratched yet since launch. As long as you don't place the devices on sandpaper, you should be fine.

Also, devices will get scratched and dinged from just normal wear and tear. Unless you want to cover it up to keep it from scratching with some god awful Otterbox, it's going to happen. Just enjoy the device.

Hey, don't disrespect the iPhone 2G! That thing was a tank. The 3G and 3GS which came after the 2G scratched WAYY easier than any iPhone 2G or even iPhone 5. The 3G and 3GS marked an awkward time for Apple's case design decisions.
