Google On Safari

I'm not sure where to post this question...so here it is...

I'm using Safari as my web browser on a Mac (10.6.8).

When I type

www.google.com

in the address bar, on hitting enter the web address switches to

http://www.google.hu/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=EWlOU_LnDMWTigb8oYHIAw

and I'm directed to Google Hungary.

Why?

I live in the UK not Hungary!

Sorry for the delay in response time: sleeping! (shift work)

In Network settings, in the DNS tab, all I can see listed is a ten digit number under the heading "DNS Servers" and "lan" under the heading "Search Domains".

Is this related to Hungary somehow?

Hi,

I noticed since the new CEO of FF, (my saving grace from Windows), was going downhill. So, according to ZDnet, "..., There was a time when Firefox was the number two web browser, but those days may never come back." http://www.zdnet.com/firefox-web-br...0031310/?s_cid=e539&ttag=e539&ftag=TRE17cfd61

So the suggestion was to go to Safari. Apparently, Safari's new update to 6, is omitting any mention of compatibility with Windows. I can get the last version, but I know that will be problematic.

Why isn't Safari 6 including a Windows download? Are there any other choices besides, FF or Chrome? I don't like the latter's "Terms of Privacy Notice."
