Hi,

I'm new to Mac having been a windows user for 30 years. I recently bought a MacBook 4,1 which came with Leopard and 1gb ram as it was pretty cheap.

I'm a developer and want to start playing around with Xcode.

I've managed to get it running Mountain Lion using this guide (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1404548/)

I've installed the graphics drivers from this link (http://swegen.blogspot.de/2011/07/bootefi-x64-patch-for-mac-os-x-lion-and.html ) using KextBeast and its stopped the flickering, crashing and youtube issues and seems to be running sweet.

The only problem left which I cant for the life of me crack, is there is no sound other than the chime on startup.

When I go to System preferences and sound the output tab shows 'No Output Devices found'

In windows terms I'm certain its driver related and I'd normally use the likes of slim drivers to scan my hardware and install missing drivers but I've trawled the internet and cant get it working http://cdn.macrumors.com/vb/images/smilies/mad.gif

I've tried:

Restarting (always first try ;) )
Copying the AppleHDA.kext from Lion
Running Multibeast for graphics driver
Running multiple terminal commands
Reinstall of 10.8

I have nothing on the machine to lose so I've tried anything.

I've read loads of guides posts but nothing seems to work, can someone please help me?

Heres my hardware overview:

Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.1 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 3 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MB41.00C1.B00
SMC Version (system): 1.31f1
Serial Number (system): W88180ZE0P0
Hardware UUID: 9FA631FF-4377-535D-A095-AE767C22B1A8
Sudden Motion Sensor:
State: Enabled

Thanks
