Simple question...

My wife's venerable MBA 2,1 (1,86 Ghz C2D) is not the fastest machine in the world, but it is being horrendously bogged down by the 1,8" HDD (I've narrowed it down).

I'd like to hear your opinions on the benefits of aftermarket SSD's for this generation of MBA's
- what solution have you used?
- was it worth it?

RGDS,

It's also bogged down by the lack of RAM, terrible cooling system (and resulting thermal throttling).

Might speed it up a little with an aftermarket SSD, but honestly I don't think it's worth it. The issue is that the drive interface isn't every fast either.
