So i want to replace the fan in my Macbook 4,1. Is it possible to get one that is more silent/better than the standard original one, or is an original the only option?

Is the one you have dead? You need an Apple part since it isn't like a desktop with universal fan mounts!

It makes an annoying "clicking noise" but can still cool. Ok thx i will look for an Apple part. Just thought you could get some kind of upgrades.

In most cases cooling parts in any laptop are not cross-compatible with other parts! Some manufacturers may make a replacement part, but it is not held to Apple's standards. Best of luck though, and iFixit has some great parts!
