Launch App From Game Controller

I use OpenEmu to play some classic games. Unfortunately OpenEmu isn't really optimised for anything but a keyboard and mouse.

I'd like to be able to launch OpenEmu and select games using my game controller. I have Alfred but I haven't found a plugin that'll let me use the game controller to send control signals.

It's a PS3 controller connected by USB and works fine with OS X.

Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks.
