I'll admit I never really read the comics, but I've always wanted to...

It's very time consuming to read newspaper comics. I started with Garfield in the early 90's, and now I read about 50 and I've been adding to my list since then. Some great debuts in the last year.

I recommend the GoComics iPad app or website as a place to start. Don't bother with the iPhone version as it's too cumbersome and you have to do a lot of zooming. Neither are as good as the website for looking at older comics either.

The only real issue in general with GoComics is the fact that it doesn't have the majority of the stuff under King Features syndication.

I don't want to spoil the surprise, so yes, I'm going to be cryptic.

If you have been a fan of newspaper comics for at least 20 years, this last week's "Pearls Before Swine" will interest you.

Start here:

Read them through, clicking "Next" after each until you get to the last one.

A pretty good tribute, eh?

I read some comics over the weekend, and I just can't delve straight into them...I stink at this. This is why I enjoy novels- all you need is within the binding.
