Firstly I am new to mac. Need some help..please

Is there a list of things that I need to check to verify everything is working for open box items?
Also, following are the specs
13 inch
2.4GHz i5 Turboboost up to 2.9GHz
8GB 256 GB SSD
No Scratches/dents pretty clean..no accessory missing
I got it for 1098-150[studentdiscount]+tax=1021. Is this a good deal?

Please let me know, I am confused...:(

Thank you..

YOU GOT A STEAL! OMG I am so jealous right now. I would do anything for that computer for about a thousand bucks.

I paid 1585 for mine 13" 2.6/8/256 so only slightly better processor but 550 more dollars!

wildly good deal.
How does BestBuy student discount work?

YMMV on student discount with open box item. Some will let you and some will not.

What is there to be confused about? It is a good deal.

I got the same deal as well. But it's true that YMMV with using the deal on open box items. So good luck to others that are trying.

I'm still debating on returning it though, because I prefer the 15" size. I just can't afford a 15" haha. Not sure what to do yet.

Best Buy restores everything to factory so you really have nothing to worry about. They are not allowed to sell it unless they do so.

what i would check if i bough open box:

1)physical condition to my satisfaction
2)battery count: to check it applications ->utilities folder ->system information
->power tab->look for line "cycle count
3)screen condition
4)mouse responsiveness / keyboard responsiveness.
5)all ports (this is a hypothetical for me, as I have no thunderbolt and I rarely use HDMI. May be useful for you)
6)last and most important. give thanks for receiving a computer at a stellar deal, with a helpful forum to validate its a stellar deal ;)

Goodluck.

You can also check your warranty status and see essentially when it was activated by inputting the serial.
