Anyone know how to send messages in iOS 8 that will disappear after a certain amount of time like advertised?

i believe thats only with picture and video messages that you take within the messaging app via their new "quick shoot" method. Holding the camera icon down and swiping up for a pic and sliding down for video.
You can have messages deleted after a long period of time so they dont take up too much space on your phone. That is in Messages settings I believe.
