Hello everyone.

I'm currently running my OS off a Lacie Rugged SSD via thunderbolt, instead of the internal HDD in my iMac. I'm also running a Lacie 2Big 6TB for storage. The SSD however, doesn't have thunderbolt passthrough so my current chain looks like this;

iMac ----> Lacie 2Big ----> Lacie Rugged SSD.

I've been wanting to get one of those LG ultrawide displays. Their latest product in that line of monitors, 34um95 QHD Display, has thunderbolt passthrough.

I was wondering if I would get slow performance from my SSD if I was to run a display in the chain like so;

iMac ----> Display ----> Lacie 2Big ----> Lacie Rugged SSD.

Does your iMac only have one thunderbolt port?

Either way, I think running it like this will have negligible impact on the performance.

I would expect that to run just fine. Thunderbolt is a really big data pipe, you're not even close to bottlenecking it.

Should be fine as display has dedicated bandwidth within the thunderbolt connection. That's what Thunderbolt was designed for.

I hope to get my LG display soon.
