Amazon has introduced the Fire Phone. Looks pretty nice so far.

I'm going to assume this is using the Snapdragon 800 chip (clocked at 2.2), which is the same as the FireTV.

Four cameras on the front, with 4 infrared lights. They sure seem obsessed with photos. :)

I'm going to be honest, Apple better blow the world away with the 6 because the competition seems to keep moving the goal posts on them.

True dat. The last 15 months have been astounding for android and android devices.

Apple, your move.

32 gb - $199; 64gb - $299 on AT&T

and it is DOA for that sole reason. People do not want contracts anymore or to pay what will probably be $600 out right. One carrier is a big mistake.

Edit: looks like you can get it on next

Gimmicks, gimmicks, and more gimmicks. This is why I hate the Samsung phone so much....

Also are you going to have to pay to get rid of ads on this one too?

amazon screwed up pretty huge here. ugly device, ugly ui, AT&T exclusivity??? where's the Prime pricing? Who wants to be tied into amazon's ecosystem anyway? Kindles are far, far behind iPad and Android for everything but reading.

I agree completely

I do have Amazon Prime and love it, but I would never buy their devices.

UI is basically a broken poor mans Android (seriously give access to Google Play store for crying out loud!)

on a side note: they are including a year of Prime with a phone purchase they said.

I don't see the allure of the phone. It's basically another gateway to purchase from Amazon, and most of the unique features are designed specifically to acquire or enjoy content you purchase from Amazon.

What if you have your own content to put on, like music you've purchased elsewhere or video you've downloaded or created elsewhere? Is it going to be as impossible to enjoy on the Fire Phone as it is the Kindle Fire tablet?

edit: and will all the preorders be delivered by Amazon Drones? :)

Too expensive IMO. Consumers aren't stupid, they know this is amazon trying to get them into their ecosystem. Nothing wrong with that, but I would expect a cheaper phone in exchange for selling my soul to Amazon.

Anyone know if the 3d effect is inwards with depth? If so I woudn't be impressed in the least. Or does the 3d object(s) actually pop out of the phone screen? If so then I'd be very impressed.

Last note, THANK you for actually putting a screen that works with polarized glasses. This has always baffled me, I can't see my iphone very well with my sunglasses.

Interesting device, but still have my heart set on either the Moto X+1 or iPhone 6 this year.

Gah I just saw a close up of it, it's got that fugly iphone huge top/bottom bezels thing going for it.
