I'm considering selling my mba mid 2013 with a 256 SSD and getting a13" rmbp current base model with 128 ssd? I'd plan on getting the rmbp and swapping the SSD before I sell my mba to get a bigger ssd in my new rmbp

I would then put the 128 SSD from the pro and sell it in the air. Both of these use PCI-e ssd. Are they the swapable

You'd be better off buying an ssd and putting it in you rmbp yourself

Then You don't have to do both the air and mbp

Also putting a 128 in your air will reduce the price

Yes, they are swappable. 2013/14 MBA's and late 2013 rMBP's use the same SSDs. The only exception is the 1TB SSD that you can get with a rMBP, which is physically wider and will not fit in the MBA's.

Cool I just got a rmbp for $775 on an auction site. Should easily be able to get more then that for my air.

As far as I know they don't sell third party ssd for pcie drives yet. I may be able to find an apple one from a broken Mac. This is easier.

I would sell the MBA as it is and then sell the 128GB for about $200. Then you can buy a 512GB for about $400. So you would only pay $200 and have the 512GB in your rMBP. I just did something similar. I sold my rMBP's 512GB for $400 and bought a 1TB for $800. So the upgrade was $400 and worth it to me. To be able to have my huge Aperture library on an SSD is life changing. lol
