Partition Error

It is because you installed Yosemite on a second partition and for some odd reason that turns the drive into a core storage volume, and those block the normal resizing like you are trying to do.

Follow this to get rid of the Yosemite partition (assuming that is okay with you), then you will be able to resize your main partition normally.
