Is it really an app or is it a webpage pointing to service providers?
Is there a way to access the content they are pointing to directly from say a browser?

An App but in quite a few cases you can also access thru the web. Watch ESPN you can get on the web (either way you need enter your provider account info). Same with MLB.TV which you either need to have an account or have MLB Xtra innings from DirecTV. Netflix and Hula yes but seperate accounts.

Tho no cable provider to watch the World Cup on the ESPN app.

Thankfully since I cut the cable a few months ago.
