A few years ago people would buy a new iPhone around April or May and then all of a sudden a new one comes out in June and they're like "WHAT?! I JUST BOUGHT AN IPHONE AND NOW IT'S OUT OF DATE WTF!!" which was silly.

that's what you hear on tech sites. the real world is not like that. walk into the Apple store on September 1st and see people happily buying the iPhone 5s.A few years ago people would buy a new iPhone around April or May and then all of a sudden a new one comes out in June and they're like "WHAT?! I JUST BOUGHT AN IPHONE AND NOW IT'S OUT OF DATE WTF!!" which was silly.
The common consumer doesn't spend their hours checking the calendars of the tech world. Just as the people staring at their computers day in and day out have knowledge about the harvest conditions of Mangroves in Jamaica or the proper nutritional values of each food group you're ingesting daily.
Got it?

Why would anyone be surprised that what happens every year happens every year? And if they are, why does it matter?Do you notice people still being surprised that a new iPhone comes out every year?

To be honest, the people I know who don't time their contract upgrade with the iPhone's release schedule just don't care enough that they're buying a phone that's already been out for 9 months. If someone cares enough about having the latest model, then they'd have done their research. Aside from the iPhone 4S, the iPhone release schedule has been fairly predictable.A few years ago people would buy a new iPhone around April or May and then all of a sudden a new one comes out in June and they're like "WHAT?! I don't think the comparison applies. If someone cares enough to get upset about a new model coming out then they should have done their research--just like most people do when they get a new TV or something.
It's true a lot of people don't care about tech so much, but then again they wouldn't worry when a new model comes out either.
So? It's likely consumerism to get an iPhone in the first place. It's CONSUMERISM to update very year. It's not like your current iPhone can't handle things for 2-3 years.
