Don't bother with Apple's adapter. Spend less than 1/3 as much and get what is essentially the same thing.
Agreed. I spent $3 on something like this, and it has functioned perfectly for 2 years so far. No need to shell out the $30 that Apple wants.
That is true also. If you don't want to bother with an adapter, just go for a cable. Monoprice (the site I linked to in my first post) sells those as well, in a variety of lengths, all still for less than what you'd pay for the Apple-branded adapter.
