Anyone else having issues with Time Machine backups hanging when part of what's being backed up is on a Drobo?
Here's the detail. I have a nMP as well as a Drobo 5D. The Drobo has my iTunes, iPhoto and iMovie libraries (among other content). The SSD on the nMP has the OS, programs and documents. The idea is that my TM drive which is in a separate enclosure backs up the combined content of the Macintosh HD and the various media libraries on the Drobo. Periodically (means anywhere from a few days to a few weeks) I'll notice that my TM backup hangs...it gets a couple of kb to a couple of hundred MB into a backup and it just hangs.
I'm pretty sure the issue lies with the Drobo because if I go into the TM drive and delete the .InProgress backup file, turn off TM, eject the Drobo, shut the Drobo down (via the Drobo dashboard) and then restart the Drobo, turn TM back on and initiate a backup, everything goes smoothly.
I'm wondering if there's some kind of power saving feature on the Drobo where the drives shut down when not in use and when the TM backup starts the drives aren't spinning back up. This is only a guess since sometimes I hear a vague click like a spin down coming from the Drobo.
Thoughts on any of this????
