I put together a 10TB LaCie 5big NAS Pro the other day and also bought a 4TB external hard drive. 4 of the bays are in a RAID 6 so I get 4TBs of data from them and my plan was to backup this data to the external drive.
I added a share on the 4TB array as private and added myself as the only user to the group. When I create a backup only the public share located on the 5th hard drive is accessible. If I make a public share on the array I can back it up. But I only need to back up the data on the private share.
The machine was synchronizing for the last day so I figured I couldn't perform a backup during this process. It's complete and I still can't select the private share.
I've scoured LaCie's help site and rephrased the post title in numerous ways on Google to no success. Has anyone found a solution?
Edit:
I got it to work. When I set up my NAS I took a page out of my Dedicated Server & SSH rules of thumb to never use the admin/root account. I setup a new user and did not set it as an administrator. Once I put the admin account to have read access to the share I was able to select it for backup.
