While on the iOS 8 beta I decided to try an experiment, I option clicked "Update" and pointed my iPhone to iOS 7.1.2, and surprisingly it erased iOS 8, left some of my backed up data, (including the 8.0 wallpaper) and began to function on iOS 7.1.2, no errors, and the only remnant of iOS 8 is in location services, where I saw it say "BulletinBoard.framework" I am not sure if this had something to do with the Bug Reporter app, but it is present under location. I am kind of curious to see what happens when I attempt to put beta 3 on my device.
