Hi all
New here, and wondering if anyone can comment. I'm looking to acquire some of the soon to arrive Panasonic FZ1000 4k bridge cameras to film concerts, and to upgrade from my early 2011 MBP, with i7 2ghz and 16gb ram / 256mb Vram.... At the moment I can just about get through 4 camera material on AVCHD 28MBps HD1080p, using FCP X and transcoding to proxy ... but, it is incredibly, painfully slow, the fans run constantly at full power and the system frequently has very slow response.
The FZ1000 looks great as you can shoot 4k and place it in a HD1080 timeline and use the oodles of offscreen material to pan, tilt, zoom, but does anyone here have experience of transcoding 100MBps MP4 to 422 proxy on a 2013 Mac Pro quad or i7 iMac? What kind of times are you getting?
The concerts I video are often 1 hour to ninety minutes x 4 cameras so it is a lot of footage.
Any help much appreciated.
