I was given a 2008 MacBook. It's a 2.4ghz c2d and it came with 2gb ram. The casing on it was trashed to hell so I thought it would be a great opportunity to do a caseswap with black macbook parts that I purchased on ebay. I did the case swap last night and now the computer won't boot. I can hear the ODD buzz after hitting the power button, the fans spin up, and the status LED stays solid. No boot chime, no image on the screen. What did I do wrong?

If it makes any difference, I'm running off mains power because I don't yet have a functional battery for this computer.

Oh and I used AS5 when reinstalling the heatsink

I hope the logic board is still useable, but if not it's not the end of the world because I have more MacBook parts than you'd imagine. I have a 2.2ghz santa rosa logic board that I can put in there but I'd really like to salvage the 2.4
