Hi there,

I am running Mavericks on my Mac Pro 1,1 using Tiamo's boot.efi and an ebay bought 5870 card. Recently upgraded to using two monitors via the mini display ports. It seems now when I stress out the system i.e have a couple things running concurrently, it crashes. It then doesn't power back on until I've left if off for several minutes.

When it comes back on, I get this crash log to send to Apple. I am sending it (probably bad thing I dunno). I was hoping somebody could look at it and see if there's an easy fix or do I need to shell out for a 2008-2012 mac pro? (Not keen on the lack of upgradability in the new ones.)

Any help would be appreciated :) It looks like it's a card problem but not sure? I read something about a kext needing replaced but again, je suis confoosed.:confused:

Your KP log says clearly that GPU is the culprit. If this happens only under load your 5870 is damaged, it isn't software issue. You should demand a refund from the seller if possible.

The fact that you also said you can't turn the machine on right away tells me it could also be related to either overheating or a weak power supply. It may not be the graphics card itself, but it will use a lot more power and generate a lot more heat than the 7300 GT (Assuming that's the card you had in there previously) and if your power supply is getting old/weak, this card could definitely stress it more and cause stability problems.
