Performance of an iPhone 4 on 7.1.2

I have a really good friend of mine who is giving me his old iPhone 4 on Verizon since he is upgrading. For this being my first iPhone (but not first iOS device, I had a 4th gen. iPod touch and an iPad 2), what is the performance like on the iPhone 4? Are there any major bottlenecks I should be aware of?

I mean, after all, he is just giving it to me. I plan on using it as a phone for driving, I have a Bluetooth stereo in the car I use, and for music. I also plan on playing some games on it (like GTA, I had Vice City on my old iPod before it was stolen), and also using it for social networks and FaceTime. To reiterate, are there any bottlenecks I might run into in doing any of the above? I already know that Siri is not available and same for dictation.
 
iOS 7 is somewhat slow on iPhone 4 compared to iOS 6 or especially iOS 5 for example. That said, 7.1 and later made things somewhat better compared to 7.0, although there's still some slowness there. You should be able to do what you are looking for, although performance of some of the more intensive apps (like games and the like) might be a bit slow or at least take longer to load up and all that.
 
I didn't think the iphone 4 could FaceTime? Or was it the turn by turn navigation?... I forget now..

Right, I should have mentioned that's for native/stock iOS use/apps (like Apple Maps basically). Third party apps of course offer their own features.

Ah I see!

I actually have a 5c so have this functionality! Had an ip4 before this tho

Google Maps works just fine on the iPhone 4, with full turn by turn navigation.

It's actually a bit embarrassing for Apple; they had no reason to not include it in the iPhone 4, yet they didn't anyway.
