Hi,

I'd like to measure the activity of my d700s during a specific task, is there any tool that can show me what the cards are doing, how hard they're being crunched?

Specifically I ran into a strange phenomenon. I have the not so weak 8c d700 64gb nMP with a Lacie LittlebigDisk2 attached to it with some Red Epic footage on it. I can smoothly play back 5k at 1/2 in RedCineX. Nice!
I then tried out some other 5k Clip of the same camera but with 4:1 compression instead of 8:1 as the previous clip, and the machine stutters.

In the reduser forum they tell me generic answers like "maybe your cpu is not fast enough" or "maybe it's the gpu". I can't see how LESS compression taxes the GPU more than more compression. It's not the SSD or the Ram for sure. CPU is at max load on both tasks. (why should less compression mean more cpu workload?)

So the only thing I can't measure right now is the GPU activity...

OpenGL driver monitor maybe would do what you want. You need Xcode and Graphics Tools for Xcode.
