Fake Second Display?

Is it possible to create a fake external display on my MacBook?
(In other words, the Mac would think that there was another display connected, when there isn't? I'm trying to create a virtual second display.)
 
Do you need more "workspace"? If so, check out Mission Control and Spaces. You can have as many "virtual desktops" as needed/wanted.

Spaces won't do what I need.
I need to actually create a second display that I can adjust the resolution and arrangement of.
 
If you have an iPad or iPhone, you may use Air Display to make your iOS device work as a second display.
