I am about to take this computer and THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW because I am so sick and tired of how incredibly slow and annoying trying to use it with wifi. I have tried everything I can think of and every time I try to do something, e.g. upload a video to YouTube in 720 it tells me it's going to take 6 or more HOURS!!! any suggestions here other than going back to microsoft products??

How do you know it isn't due to your internet and or router?

The wifi on my MBA is pretty happy. At home I get 50+ mbit downloads and 12+ mbit uploads. Here in the United lounge at Dulles airport I am getting 10 mbit down and 74 mbit up.

With that said, what's your internet connection speed? Have you tried other wireless networks? Can you test other devices on your wireless network?

I really haven't had any wifi issues on my 2013 MBA, either at home or while travelling. Do you have another Mac on your local network? You could enable file sharing and see what kind of transfer speeds you get while connected to it. That would give you an idea if your problem is related to wifi on the MBA.

I have a Mac Mini connected to a new Time Capsule with gigabit ethernet. Using 802.11ac wifi on the MBA to connect to the Mini, this is what I get

My internet connection is dog-slow (Verizon DSL), but that is all I can get here. But wifi works really well on my local network.

Is not your Air or your WIFI, it's the CHEAP Internet service you bought. Do you know what you bought?

Come on! This isn't true!

The day you decide to throw it, tell me and I will be waiting outside to catch it, ok?

A Wi-Fi connection malfunction or an internet speed issue can be easily detected....

Seems no issues on my mid 2013 MBA. Sharing wifi with a neighbor!

My husband has an HP and his is killer fast. We have a Cisco router which i know are usually pretty good. I did a ping and here are the results: 64 bytes from 192.168.1.112: icmp_seq=0 ttl=64 time=0.067 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.112: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.125 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.112: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.124 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.112: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.124 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.112: icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=0.125 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.112: icmp_seq=5 ttl=64 time=0.136 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.112: icmp_seq=6 ttl=64 time=0.125 ms

64 bytes from 192.168.1.112: icmp_seq=8 ttl=64 time=0.127 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.1.112: icmp_seq=9 ttl=64 time=0.154 ms

--- 192.168.1.112 ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 0.067/0.123/0.154/0.021 ms

I don't know enough about ping'ing to know if these are good results or not.

Ping can only tell you the round-trip network latency but not bandwidth.

I've had a lot of problems with the Air and my wifi. It would have lots of trouble making the connection when opening the lid.

In the end, I turned off the wireless network of the (provided by the cable company) router. Then I hooked up a decent wireless router from TP-Link with both 2.4 and 5 GHz radios. All wifi problems were solved after that.

If you're using DSL, upload speed will always be far less than download speed.

Like everyone else is saying. There is an easy test. Copy that EXACT same 720p file you were trying to upload onto your husbands computer. Then log into your youtube account and try to upload.

1) if his is faster, meaning will upload in less than 6 hours. Then its your macs wifi problem, move to better location near router, use an adapter and plug in the ethernet etc.

2) if his is same / slower, meaning will upload in same 6 or more hours. Then your internet/router/area sucks for internet and has nothing to do with the Mac. In which case you need to do some more testing to improve your speeds.
