Does anyone know if a sweet PCI-E SSD will work on a Socket 2011 (6-core) hackintosh? And I mean being fully functional with 6GB/s speeds as it would in the MacPro or on a windows computer.

Thanks for the info!

Yes, but a Samsung 840 Pro might be a cheaper alternative.

Have you tried the following Hackintosh specific fora and websites yet?

PS: The PCIe flash storage on a Mac Pro does not deliver 6 GigaByte (GB) per second (GB/s), more like 1 GB/s.

Thank you for the info. Our VFX facility specifically needs PCIE SSD storage solutions. And oops I must have been thinking about something else being 6GB/s.

But your VFX facility does not want to spend the money on a Mac Pro? And what are the 1 GB/s read/write speeds needed for?

As for what is 6 GB/s, maybe you confused it with S-ATA 6.0 Gbps (S-ATA III)?

I guess he is talking about the new Mac Pro PCIe SSD, but not a normal PCIe SSD.

If considering use a PCIe -> SATA 3 convertor to run a SATA 3 SSD, yes, 6Gbps should not be a problem on a Hackintosh.
