I just inherited an iPad 2nd gen 16gb. The home button does not work. I just checked online on the apple recycle program that it's worth $150.

Options
1) use the credit towards a current iPad mini retina

2) use the credit towards the iPad mini retina 2 when launched

3)get the home button fixed from Apple and just use it.

What would you do in my place??

I m leaning towards #2

I'd probably go for 1. There's no confirmed leak for a new mini at this point, so I'd just get what I need now.

Back up to iCloud. Get your $150. Get rid of it ASAP. Get a new Mini when it comes out in a couple of months.

We don't need a leak. We know the iPads are about to be updated, just like the do every single year.
