Hi all,
The last hour I've been getting 'startup disk full' popups on my 2012 MBA. I cleared 11GB with of data and within minutes I get another error, now there's only 200MB free.
Safari is hanging, typing this now it hangs, beachball, completes keystrokes, repeat. Fans have kicked in too. Finder becomes unresponsive and hangs for a minute. Machine somewhat unusable.
Checking activity monitor:
Update:
Reset PRAM.
All fine, 11.6GB - as soon as I open Safari I get a disc full error, 200MB space left. Then it goes up to 4GB.
Close Safari, disc space goes back to 11.6GB. Now using Chrome and not getting any errors / fluctuations in disc space?
Update:
In activity monitor SpotlightNetHelper is not responding.
4 x Google Chrome Helper - also not responding.
Submitting via feedback assistant, fans have kicked back in and MBA vent is red hot.
Memory used 7.15GB of 8GB.
Feedback assistant has finished sending the report, fans have stopped.
Tried opening Safari, disc space dropped from 10.8GB to 20.4mb available, 'startup full' error.
Closed Safari, disc space back to 10.8GB.
So Safari's causing the headache - have tried clearing cache, no luck.
Any suggestions?
