Late 2007 15" Mac Book Pro A1226.
Just bought new OEM 85w mag safe charger. Worked for a day and a half.
My son's 60w works fine.
A year ago I purchased a replacement battery. Not Apple. It has warped a bit.
I am wondering if my charger problems are related to a crappy battery.

It's possible that it's a problem with the adapter, but it's very likely the battery, as many have reported problems with "knock-off" batteries.

I wouldn't trust or recommend any non-Apple battery, due to the number of problems reported with "knockoff" batteries. Also, there is no assurance that knockoff batteries have the same charging technology that Apple uses, involving the battery, the MagSafe adapter and the Mac's logic board. The link below should answer most, if not all, of your battery/charging questions. If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend you take the time to read it.
