I have a Samsung 840 EVO in my PS4 that I would like to update the firmware for but am currently using a 2013 27" iMac with no PC to connect it directly to a SATA port. If i use Samsung's Magician Software under Windows will the Samsung firmware update run with an SSD connected over a Thunderbolt to eSATA connection or can anyone suggest any possible way of updating the firmware outside of on a PC?

I have upgraded the firmware in my 500GB 840 EVO using Samsung Magician in BootCamp Windows with no issues.

I boot off the SSD in a Thunderbolt enclosure.

Any recommendations on a specific Thunderbolt enclosure? Only need to be able to connect one 2.5" SSD.
