I have a MBA on which I use Parallels to run my Windows applications.

I created a spreadsheet in Parallels / Windows / Excel which I password protected so that others using my laptop could not open the file.

I am now in the process of fully migrating from Windows to OS X...when I try to open the same file is OS X / Excel I get the message "File is Locked for Editing" and I am left with the option of open the file as a read only file [i.e. the file does not open asking me for the password].

I am confused because when I tried the same thing with Word [i.e. create a password protected file in Parallels / Windows / Word and then tried to open it in OS X / Word] everything worked properly [i.e. the Word file opened and asked me for a password].

Any ideas as to why this is happening and how to fix this?

Thanks.
