Using my 2011 MBA (Which i love, the thing handles any task) I'm using an egato GameCapture HD60 to record some gameplay. my question is, when does intel turbo boost turn on and how can i tell that its on? Using MacCPUID i can read that the clock stays at 1.6 GHz and never reaches the 2.3GHz that the i5 can do.

Grab the intel power gadget app. Not sure about the '11, but on my '14 the speed idles at 800mhz and varies up to the max with higher usage.

The max clock basically requires only one core to be used only. Odds are if you're recording game play, both cores will be pegged limited how much boost you'll get.
