Or maybe it was just the iPad.

Only Macs and MacBooks are sometimes available for ordering the day they got announced. None of the iDevices have yet.

Apple was given pre-ordering offers to iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c, but not for iPhone 5s.

The iPhone never has, I'm pretty sure iPad haven't either. Mac has though.

Neither iPhone or iPad have ever done this. Some macs have, idk about iPod though.

Sure hope we can pre-order that Friday of the week it gets announced. Don't mind waking up early to pre order and wait for the UPS guy the following Friday at my office

I'm really hoping for pre-orders this year, last year there was a mad rush getting hold of a 5s - presume due to low stock levels. Fingers crossed they have a few more 6's!

never and never. Given the logistics needed to get staffing at the stores there has always been at least a few days if not a solid week of lead time

It would be cool... But I don't think we're trying to turn apple keynote dates into this...

Could you see all those nerd bloggers at the keynote stampeding out as soon as they hear, "And they're available...today" and besieging the nearest Apple store to get in line?

haha... imagine all the car accidents on the news... people (like me) driving like nutbags in their rush to get to the nearest retail location.

I guess they would need to wait until the keynote is over. Then they would say where the nearest apple store is and call the apple store to tell get ready.

Almost all of them bloggers will get a review unit before release anyway.
