Hello All,

I'm just about to order a Dell U2414H(http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&sku=860-BBCG) to use with my 2013 Macbook Air. I'm not that familiar with how to connect these two and can't seem to find a definitive answer by searching the forums for apple discussions. What cables and adapters will I need? Can I go through thunderbolt? I'm looking to make this is as easy as possible as I will be connect and disconnecting my air daily from the monitor to take to school. Will this be an issue with wait times for connecting and formatting?

Thanks for any input and help.

Looking at the specifications of that display...Any of the cable types below works:
Mini display port - display port
Mini display port - hdmi
Mini display port - mini display port
(Mini display port connector is the same as thunderbolt)

The above adapter and a hdmi cable will do the trick.

Great! Thanks. I will check out that amazon cable and try to eliminate the need for HDMI, as I see that there could be an issue of the mac thinking the monitor is a TV when connected via HDMI.

Those kind of cables can be found in just about every computer/electronics store. So no need to buy from Amazon.. Though amazon will surely be the cheapest option as long as you live in a "Amazon available country" :) Best of luck!

Worked out of the box

I bought a U2413 and sound bar for use with my 13" MBA:

1) Attached sound bar and plugged 1/8" audio cable and power into monitor.

2) Connected included Display port/mini display port cable (DP/miniDP) to monitor and Thunderbolt on Mac respectively.

Pow, done. Not sure why you need to buy cables with that one included? And nice to have one cable doing audio and video.

From Dell's site, it's says it come with a mini DP to DP cable. So you might not need to buy anything.
