Does notification sync works well with iOS 8?

Hello. Apple introduced notification sync with iOS 7 release.

However, I have MBA latest OS X Mavericks version, iPad air and iPhone 5S iOS 7.1.2 and for example if I read new email from stock mail app, it doesn't mark as read on my other devices. It never worked for me from iOS 7. It is annoying because if you get email, you need to unlock and open mail app on every device to get marked as read emails.
Anyone tried if it is working with iOS 8 beta?
 
Hello,

sync for mail depends on whether you are using POP or IMAP protocols.

Only IMAP will sync the mails and their status (read, deleted) between all your devices.

Check on your MBA, iPad and iPhone if your are using POP or IMAP.

On Mac OS X : Mail / Preferences / Accounts

On iOS : Settings / Mail, Contacts, Calendar / Accounts

IMAP :) I'm using iCloud mail ;D
 
There are two things here: mail notification sync and general iOS notification sync supposedly introduced in iOS7.

Mail Notification Sync
The mail notifications do not get updated when you read the mail on another device until you open the mail app on that secondary device. This has always been the case and is documented by Apple: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4083

iOS7 Notification Sync
Although it was touted as a feature it doesn't seem to have been implemented. The only apps I know that update notifications across devices are iMessage & Facebook and it really is a big pain in the a$!e that it doesn't work for third party apps. I was hoping it would have been introduced in iOS8 but nope.

Yeah - certainly would. In fact if notification sync worked system wide it would be great. Boggles my mind that Apple keeps highlighting "all content on all devices" and we have bookmark sync, keychain sync, media sync, etc. yet they can't seem to do notification sync.

My Google Hangouts notifications sync across devices.
 
Facebook, Google Hangouts, the inbuilt Calendar and Reminders all do notifications sync...can't find many others out these.

Edit* and of course iMessage
 
iMessage notification sync works perfectly.

Mail notification sync does not work at all until you open the Mail app.

I find this infuriating.
