Carrier iPhone6 keeping same number release day

So I'm new at this. I currently have a smart phone at Tmobile and want to get my hands on the iPhone 6 as soon as it is released because I know that they sell out quick, so I want to maybe do the pre order thing.

How would I do this and still keep my current number?

You will need to wait till after 9-9-2014 and T-Mo will announce if there will be pre-orderes or not. No one knows.

Do you mean phone number? If so, I think you usually always keep your phone number unless you open a new account with another carrier.

Just order one when the preorders open up on the Verizon or Apple website. It will hold your hand through the process. Just choose "Upgrade Line" instead of "New Line" and you'll be fine.
