So my house mates 2013 air broke last week, logic board . It was running the public preview of Yosemite .

So when he got it back yesterday he decided to go back to mavericks. So command+r at startup formatted the drive so it was blank and it connected to apple to pull down the OS. It pulled down yosemite not mavericks, and he says the icons have been updated. Have apple loaded 10.10 gold onto their recovery servers? We're a bit confused why mavericks did not come down. It's build 14A329R

It's still in beta. The reason it pulled Yosemite down was because although you formatted the drive, it did not erase the recovery partition which has been updated for Yosemite.
