How does it work?

Is it like facebook blocking? Does the ignored individual have access to threads I've started for example?
Faq doesn't seem to cover that

Yes, ignored users can view and post in your threads. You just won't see their responses. Their posts will look like this:

Why would you want to ignore anyone?

Let's get rid of the ignore function and bring back the downvotes!

Well, I contemplated one particular entity, but the functionality of the ignore list addition does not meet my blocking needs :)

I don't block because of the reason you mentioned. They are not really blocked since you can still see that "this message is hidden" business on the screen. If I block someone I don't want to know they exist. I realize with my method one would still see a blocked persons quotes if they were posted, but a full block would still eliminate most of the info.
