I found this article today, looks like this time around more places to get iphone 6 and pre-order tham other than carriers and apple.com and apple stores. That means not much of madness.

Hopefully all of those retailers also carrying stock will mean that there will be no sellouts or very brief sellouts as more stock arrives.

Good to have plenty of options. Now I just have to figure out how to order mine, port my girlfriend's number from AT&T to Verizon, and create a family plan all in one swoop. :p

You know the only reason that I would consider buying from Walmart, bestbuy, target, Radio shack would be to save about $40 on sales tax. I can use that money towards purchasing Applecare Plus or something.
AT&T and Apple charge you sales tax on the full price of the phone when buying subsidized where these other retailers charge you sales tax only on the amount that you pay them. So for me it would be tax on $299 instead of $749.

For real?! I never knew that! A bit outrageous and definitely affects where I will go to purchase the 6+. Thanks for the tip!

It depends on what state you live in. Some states, such as California charge tax on the full price of the phone. Others, like here in Washington, only tax the subsidized price you're paying upfront.

I know in certain US states they make you pay tax on the full price of the phone.
Unfortunately where I live its like that.

What state do you live in?

I'm kinda worried now. I live in Georgia, but I will be in Florida all next week, so I was thinking about pre-ordering it tomorrow and do in-store pick up at an apple store in Florida. I wonder if they will charge taxes based on the state I live or the state where the Apple store is in. Any ideas?

I believe its charged at the location it is purchased.
Or location it is shipped to.
So if you buy it in florida then you will pay their state tax and not sure if they charge tax on the full amount or just the amount you pay with the subsidy.
