Hello All,

Recently upgraded my Mac Pro 17 early 2011 to include (2) Samsung 840 EVO 1 TB drives :). I wanted to go and install them into a RAID 0 configuration as I removed the cd/dvd drive in my Macpro. I checked and this particular mac supports 6GB/s on each bay for SATA III SSD's. I took my original SSD that had my Mavricks 10.9.5 and all files and put that into a thunderbolt SSD tray. Now this was able to be booted remotely obviously and had access to the Recovery HD partition.

Now here is my issue and I believe it has to be Mavricks 10.9.5 as I hear 10.9.3 RAID 0 works fine:

Was able to create RAID 0 set with the (2) Samsung 840 EVO drives to 2TB
Upon cloning (used CCC cloner) the original 256GB drive to the new RAID set - Mavricks 10.9.5 would not allow me to create the Recovery HD partition to the RAID set. It did say the RAID set would be bootable however, I got a grey screen with the spinning gear and it would never boot to OSX.

It's a shame, I'm running Mav 10.9.5 now but on an unstripped standard 2 separate hard drive installation. So I'm getting like between 430/520mb/s read/write speeds instead of 800-1000mb/s in a RAID 0 set.

If anyone has been able to successfully install 2 ssd's and successfully boot in RAID 0 cloning the original drive to the RAID set please feel free to help me.

I've exhausted myself with this craziness and just about covered the subject online as much as possible. I thoroughly think it's the latest version of Mavricks that is the problem.

Thanks for taking the time to read all this, not a simple thing but I know many people who have done a RAID 0 setup w/ 2 ssd's successfully. None that I know did it on 10.9.5 that I can find.

Thanks all,

Rare
