I updated both my iphone 6 and original mini to 8.0.2 using iTunes 11.4. Each was connected to the usb cable during installation. At the end of each upgrade, I got the following message..

iTunes could not connect to this iPad (iphone) The session ID is missing.

I just unplugged the device, shut down iTunes, replugged the device, and restarted iTunes and all seemed well. I would have totally dismissed this message had it not happened on two devices.

I have been having issues with wifi sync since upgrading to 11.4 and this is just one more symptom. I have four iDevices and three can be seen in iTunes when they are not connected. The fourth, the Mini, can only be seen when attached via USB. It used to work under the old iTunes. Sync over wifi is checked. But even when they are seen, I can't do anything with the data - it's greyed out - on all but the one device physically attached via USB.

Is is possible that all of the issues I am having has to do with the missing ID session? I haven't a clue where or what that is! Appreciate an insight.
